Young New Jersey Boy Killed in Recent Car Accident
Loss of life is always tragic, particularly when the life is that of a young child. That is why it is so important for drivers to remain aware of their surroundings. When a driver fails to remain vigilant, a car accident is much more likely to occur. An 8-year-old boy was killed in a recent New Jersey accident.
According to authorities, the young boy was walking home from a team fundraiser when he was struck by a vehicle. It is unclear what caused the vehicle to hit the child. Witnesses report that the driver of the vehicle did not stop, but seemed dazed as he drove away from the scene. A few witnesses were able to run after the car and convince the driver to stop.
Tragically, the boy did not survive the injuries he suffered. No one else was injured. The driver stated that he did not see the child before the crash and thought he had struck a backpack. Police have not filed any criminal charges at this time.
The loss of a family member can be devastating for surviving families. In addition to the emotional toil thrust upon them, they also often face unexpected financial burdens. To help cope with this, surviving families of deceased victims may be able to file wrongful death claims in civil court against the party or parties believed to be responsible. When these claims are successfully litigated, plaintiffs then typically receive monetary damages that can be used to help pay for medical bills, funeral costs and any other related expenses. Anyone who has lost a loved one in a car accident could contact an experienced New Jersey attorney for more information.
