Tragic Car Accident Results in Three Deaths
The opioid crisis continues to take lives in New Jersey and around the country. A recent tragic car accident took the lives of three people at an area gas station. A man and his son had stopped to get gas and ended up dead. The driver of the car who struck them was under the influence of powerful opioid drugs.
As a man and his son were stopped to buy gas, a car driven by a young man reportedly careened into the gas station and collided with the stopped car. The impact of the crash took the roof off of the stopped vehicle. The crash resulted in the deaths of the man, his son and a gas station attendant.
The driver of the car that reportedly careened into the gas station appeared to have experienced a drug overdose at the time of the crash. Witnesses claimed to have seen him slumped over the wheel at the time of the impact. Blood evidence collected reportedly revealed that he had been under the influence of heroin that had been laced with fentanyl. Fentanyl is a synthetic drug that is many times more powerful than heroin and can cause users to experience an overdose and lose consciousness.
The effects of the drug crisis are felt in New Jersey communities every day. A person who has suffered a tragic loss as a result of a car accident possibly caused by someone who was driving under the influence may wish to speak with a personal injury attorney. A lawyer can review the facts of the case and determine if a civil suit against the party deemed responsible is a viable option.
