Single-Vehicle Car Crash Leaves 1 Dead and 2 Injured
A single-vehicle accident on the Palisades Interstate Parkway caused the death of one individual and led to two others being injured. Authorities in New Jersey say that this car crash was the result of the driver losing control of the vehicle. The current conditions of those who survived are unknown.
This particular accident happened in the early morning hours of Dec. 12. For reasons unknown, the driver lost control of the car causing the vehicle to hit a tree, collide with the guardrail, overturn and then crash into another tree. One passenger was able to free him or herself from the automobile, this individual was transported to a medical facility in critical condition. A second passenger was found deceased in the front seat of the car.
The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle. After being removed he or she was taken to a hospital, also in critical condition. At this time, authorities have not indicated if any charges are pending in the matter.
Even though this was a single-vehicle car crash, the surviving passenger and the decedent’s loved ones may be able to pursue compensation for their losses. Legal claims, such as personal injury and wrongful death claims, may be filed against the driver in a New Jersey civil court. While cases of this nature can certainly be trying, those that are successfully litigated may receive financial restitution for any and all legally recoverable economic and non-economic damages, such as funeral expenses, medical costs and emotional and physical pain and suffering — among numerous others.
