New Jersey Woman Killed in Suspected Drunk Driving Accident
Drunk drivers can be a serious danger to themselves and anyone they come into contact with on the roads. Impaired judgment and reaction times greatly increase the chances of an accident occurring and the consequences of this can be massive. In a recent suspected drunk driving accident in New Jersey, a 32-year-old woman lost her life in a head-on collision.
The accident occurred early one morning in Passaic, when two cars met in a fatal smash on the northbound side of Route 21. The crash, which resulted in significant damage to both vehicles, caused one of the cars to catch fire. Officers called to the scene were able to extricate one of the drivers alive. The other driver, the above-mentioned 32-year-old woman, was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital. She is said to have been ejected through the windshield of her vehicle.
The surviving driver, who was also transported to the hospital, is set to face charges relating to the incident. His blood alcohol content when the crash occurred has not been reported, however he stands accused of drunk driving, along with other traffic offenses. Officials were forced to close the road’s northbound lanes for over four hours following the incident.
Cases like this are all too common on the roads of New Jersey and those responsible must be held accountable for their actions. If you or a loved one are involved in an accident caused by an intoxicated driver, you may have more to worry about than legal matters. However, seeking compensation may help you to cover any resultant medical expenses. An attorney can advise you on your options and guide you through the relevant procedures.
