New Jersey Man Killed, 2 Others Injured in Car Accident
Sadly, motor vehicle collisions have become a common occurrence not only in New Jersey but across the country. While there may be many factors that could contribute to a car accident, any of them could result in property damage and serious injuries or fatalities. One man was killed and three others were injured in a recent collision.
According to state police, the victim stopped his car on the shoulder of the highway. He then stepped out to adjust the bicycle attached to his vehicle. At that time, another car struck both the victim and his car. Both vehicles caught fire after the impact.
The victim passed away as a result of the injuries he suffered. The driver of the other car and her front passenger both suffered minor injuries. Another woman in the rear of the car was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
Whatever the reason for this crash, the loss of life that resulted is tragic. Though it is currently unknown whether any criminal charges will be filed, the deceased victim’s family may choose to file a wrongful death claim in civil court against the driver believed to be at fault. Similarly, the other surviving victims may choose to file personal injury claims against that driver. If the claims successfully prove the driver was negligent, the victims may be awarded monetary damages that could help pay for medical bills, funeral costs or any other financial expenses related to the crash. Anyone who has lost a loved one in a car accident could speak with an experienced New Jersey attorney to learn more about these claims.
