New Jersey Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash Day Before His Birthday

New Jersey State Police reported that a 27-year-old man from Phillipsburg died in a two-motorcycle accident on County Route 609. He was declared dead at the accident scene in Hope Township on April 16, the day before his birthday.

The other motorcyclist involved in the accident was a 47-year-old man who lived on the county road. A police spokesman said that he had pulled out of his driveway on his motorcycle, intending to head west, but then turned around to go back to his driveway.

This turn caused him to cut in front of the victim’s motorcycle. The younger man tried to brake but lost control. His motorcycle flipped, hit the other man’s motorcycle and then crashed with its driver into a curb and wooden fence. The man who died was thrown onto a grassy area. The survivor was also thrown from his motorcycle and went to Pocono Medical Center for treatment. Police said the victim was in possession of marijuana. The results of his toxicology report will reveal later if he was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
