New Jersey Limo Bus Accident Leaves 1 Dead
Area news sources report that a two-vehicle accident in Woodbine at around 12:40 p.m. on Aug. 30 left one person dead at the scene of the accident and another person injured. Upper Township EMS transported the injured individual to Shore Memorial Hospital with injuries considered to be minor in nature.
According to New Jersey State Police, the accident occurred on a portion of Route 49 near Second Avenue when an individual driving a Mercedes Sprinter limousine bus eastbound allegedly crossed the center line into the path of a 38-year-old Pennsylvania man driving a Honda CR-V westbound. The driver of the Honda reportedly attempted to avoid the collision, but the limo bus struck the Honda on the driver’s side. The impact caused both vehicles to spin out of control, and the Honda overturned. Police closed Route 49 in order to process an accident scene reconstruction. No charges have yet been filed, but the investigation continues.
When a distracted driver takes the life of a person in the course of a vehicle accident, the loved ones left behind must find a way to cope with their loss and the many expenses that often come with a tragic accident. A wrongful death claim may be filed by a personal injury attorney seeking compensation for damages that may include funeral and medical expenses, replacement or repair of the victim’s vehicle, pain and suffering and loss of companionship.
In any accident, a driver may be held liable for a death if it is proven that his or her driving caused the accident. This may include drunk driving, failure to maintain proper lane, using a cell phone while driving or traveling at unsafe speeds.
