Man Suffers Serious Work Injury After Fall
There may be many different ways a New Jersey work accident can occur. For those in the construction industry, falls are a common cause of injury. A worker in another state recently suffered a serious work injury as a result of a fall in a building being remodeled into a hotel.
Authorities said that the worker was employed with an asbestos removal contractor. For reasons that have yet to be determined, the worker fell about 15 feet from scaffolding in the building. His boss, who claimed that they had just held a safety meeting prior to the accident, believes that there may have been a problem with the latch on the scaffolding’s entry gate.
The local fire department responded to the incident. Co-workers stated that the man was alert immediately after the fall. However, he seemed unresponsive after he was brought outside the building. The worker was then taken to the hospital, reportedly suffering a head injury. The accident remains under investigation.
Such an accident may result in significant medical bills and extended time out of work. When a work injury like this occurs, employees may choose to file for workers’ compensation benefits to help cope with the aftermath. When awarded, this type of claim can provide monetary benefits that can be used to help cover the cost of medical bills, lost wages or any other expense related to the injury. Anyone who has been hurt on the job could contact an experienced New Jersey workers’ compensation attorney for more information and assistance.
