Hit-and-Run Car Accident Claims Life in New Jersey
A New Jersey man recently lost his life after being struck by a car. The victim was reportedly riding his bike when the car accident occurred. The driver believed responsible for the crash has yet to be located by police.
According to a recent news report, on the morning of Oct. 23, a bicyclist was injured in a collision as he rode his bike home from work. The driver fled the scene of the crash, which occurred in Rockaway Township. The victim was transported to a medical facility for treatment, but he died shortly after his arrival. No other details about the victim have been released.
Authorities are still investigating this incident. They are asking any witnesses or anyone with any knowledge of this accident to come forward. At this time, it is believed that the vehicle involved in the crash was a dump truck.
A hit-and-run car accident that results in fatality is often difficult for a victim’s surviving family members in a number of ways. Aside from the financial implications of such an incident, not knowing how or why an accident occurred, or who is responsible, can be emotionally distressing. When the driver is found, the victim’s loved ones may pursue civil actions against him or her in an effort to seek compensation for their losses. A legal claim that is successfully litigated in a New Jersey civil court may result in a monetary judgment, which can allow the victim’s family members to recoup economic losses resulting from the incident, offer compensation for any non-economic damages and grant some sense of justice for a seemingly senseless tragedy.
