A Car Accident Involving a Bicycle Has a Tragic Ending
Bicycles are enjoying a surge in popularity in New Jersey. As more and more people are becoming aware of the benefits of exercise, bicycles are being viewed as a means to achieve it. Bicycles present a very accessible medium to exercise for almost every age group. Sadly, an increased number of bikes on the road may lead to an increased chance of being involved in a car accident.
A 77-year-old woman was riding her bike in Bayonne on a recent Saturday morning. At about 7:00 a.m., the Bayonne police department were summoned to the site of an accident. The accident occurred near the intersection of Avenue C and 27th street.
The elderly woman was struck by a Honda Accord that was driving on 27th Street. The woman was treated at the scene by police officers and emergency personnel, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office. The woman died from her injuries. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
New Jersey roads and highways become more crowded every year, and a family who loses a loved one in a sudden accident is bound to experience feelings of intense grief, shock and sadness. When those feelings begin to subside, a family may wish to look for answers as to what happened to cause the car accident. Seeking the counsel of an experienced personal injury attorney may yield some answers. A knowledgeable lawyer can review the facts of the accident and may be able to advise the client as to whether a civil suit against the parties deemed responsible is a possible option. A successfully litigated claim can provide compensation for medical costs, final costs and other verifiable losses.
