A Car Accident Can Happen in Grocery Store Parking Lots

According to police reports an older woman, 71, was struck by a vehicle as it was leaving the supermarket. The woman was seriously injured and was airlifted to University Hospital in Newark. She later died as a result of her injuries.
The accident occurred about 8:30 on a recent morning. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and was cooperating with the authorities. It is not known if speed was a factor in the accident. Police are looking for witnesses to the accident and the incident itself remains under investigation.
