1 Dead, Several Injured in New Jersey Car Accident
On the west side of the state, three people were injured and a child killed after being struck by an automobile. The ages of the victims range from 2 to 18. The cause of this car accident is still being reviewed by New Jersey law enforcement officials.
According reports, an 18-year-old woman and four children, two of whom were riding in a wagon, were hit while walking on a road that is not known to be pedestrian friendly. A sedan operated by a 37-year-old male, for reasons unknown, struck the adult and all but one of the children. A 2-year-old, who was riding in the wagon, was rushed to a hospital but died of his injuries. The other victims were airlifted to a medical facility — each has been listed in critical condition.
Police have not indicated what may have led to this accident. They do not believe the driver was speeding or impaired at the time of the crash. At this time, it is unknown if any charges have been or will be filed in this case.
This car accident is truly tragic for all involved and their family members. The losses suffered as a result of this incident are, understandably, likely to be quite severe. In an effort to seek recovery of any financial damages, it may be possible to pursue legal claims against the driver believed responsible for this incident. Wrongful death and personal injury claims may be filed in a New Jersey civil court. If the driver is found liability by reason of the negligent operation of his vehicle, monetary judgments may be awarded for each successfully litigated claim.
