Spring Brings With It the Chance of a Car Crash

Spring has arrived and with it the arrival of motorcycles on New Jersey roadways. Traffic in New Jersey is always heavy and becomes more congested in the spring and summer with motorcycles and sports cars that had been garaged for the winter. Drivers should be conscious of this and be on the lookout for these vehicles in order to avoid a possible car crash.

A recent accident in Liberty Township took the life of a motorcycle rider. The motorcycle was heading east about 5:30 in the evening. A car was coming toward him in the opposite lane. The car turned left and reportedly failed to yield to the oncoming motorcycle.

The car struck the motorcycle, throwing him from the bike. He was transported to Mount Carmel East Hospital where he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries. According to police reports, he had been wearing a helmet at the time of the car crash. The accident remains under investigation.

Driving around New Jersey one may see the yellow window signs on vehicles warning drivers to be on the lookout for motorcycles. It is a warning worth heeding as they can be difficult to see, particularly in heavy traffic. Losing a loved one in a motorcycle accident is a tragedy borne by too many families as the warm weather calls to bike enthusiasts to hit the road.
