New Jersey Pedestrian Killed in Car Accident
Motor vehicle collisions are an unfortunately common occurrence in New Jersey and across the country. Many of these crashes happen when drivers fail to remain observant of their surroundings. A recent car accident took the life of a pedestrian on the morning of April 30.
According to Gloucester Township Police, the accident occurred near an apartment complex. The victim was walking on the road beside the complex when he was struck by a car. The driver who allegedly caused the collision remained at the scene while first responders attempted to help the victim. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.
Police state that the victim was laying on the side of the road when they arrived at the scene. It was clear that he had suffered severe head trauma. The victim was pronounced dead by Emergency Medical Services before he could be transported to the hospital. The driver of the car was not injured.
The victim’s family is likely under heavy emotional stress at this time. Though only time can heal their emotional burden, they may be able to relieve some financial stress by filing a wrongful death claim in civil court. If they can successfully prove the driver was negligent, they could then be awarded monetary damages that could help pay for medical bills, funeral costs and other documented financial losses that occurred as a result of this crash. Any New Jersey family who has lost a loved one in a car accident could speak with an experienced personal injury attorney to learn more about filing claims.
