Man Rescued by Firefighters After Collision With Car-Carrier

New Jersey State Police say that a multi-vehicle accident involving a car-carrier resulted in one driver being trapped inside his car on March 13. The accident took place along westbound Route 80 when a car-carrier collided into two passenger cars near Exit 62. According to reports, there might have been more vehicles involved, but authorities did not immediately release an exact count.

Firefighters reported to the scene of the car crash at around 11:30 a.m. and rescued one of the drivers who had gotten trapped in his vehicle. Emergency responders quickly transported the injured victim to a hospital in the area. It is unclear how many people were injured in the wreck, but a spokesperson for the State Police said that none of the injuries were life-threatening.

All of the westbound lanes were shut down for some time after the accident. The Department of Transportation reported that there were significant delays before the lanes were reopened later on. Some incorrect information about a car falling off the carrier truck was reported in the moments following the crash. The initial report was false, and it is unclear what factors led to the wreck.
