Box Truck Hits DOC Vehicle in New Jersey
When trucks are involved in accidents, a number of questions arise. Was the driver properly trained and adequately rested? Was there a fault with the truck that made it difficult to control? Was the driver simply negligent, or even intoxicated? Or was the truck accident simply the result of bad weather or poor driving conditions? In New Jersey, law enforcement officials do all they can to answer these questions and try to prevent future accidents.
One such incident occurred in Trenton when a box truck crashed into a Department of Corrections vehicle. Trenton police responded to the call at around 11 a.m. on a Friday morning. They were accompanied by sheriff’s officers along with fire and first aid workers.
No information was released at the time about the state of the drivers after the incident. However, the DOC vehicle’s driver was transported to Trenton’s Capital Health Regional Medical Center. It was also confirmed that the vehicle was not carrying any inmates at the time of the accident.
The vehicles involved came to a stop on the curb, where they had crashed into a traffic light stanchion. The light was knocked over and authorities had to close the road while they investigated the scene. The closure caused traffic jams for several hours on Route 29.
Incidents like this can often result in severe injuries for all involved. Consequently, drivers in New Jersey should be aware at all times when on the roads. If you are injured in a truck accident, it is important to determine the cause and you may wish to seek compensation, either from the driver or the truck company. A knowledgeable attorney can help you plan your case and may increase your chances of reaching the resolution you deserve.
