A Car Accident is a Constant Risk on New Jersey Roads

It is not a surprise to anyone that traffic is a significant problem on New Jersey roadways. The increased traffic can lead to the likelihood of a car accident. Some people make use of alternate forms of transportation, such as buses, in part to help reduce traffic and possibly increase safety.

A bus traveling east on Interstate 80 was involved in a crash that caused the death of a college student and injuries to several others. The bus was near Parsippany when the accident happened. It was carrying about two dozen passengers when it hit several other vehicles.

One person, a 21-year-old woman who was a senior at Syracuse University, was thrown from the bus and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was majoring in information technology and was pursuing a minor in communications at the Newhouse School and was on her way home to visit her family in Queens. Several people were transported to Morristown Medical Center. Most were treated and released, but three people remain hospitalized and one is in critical condition. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

There is no pain that can be compared to the loss of a child. The grief and shock can be overwhelming. Chances are the family thought their daughter was safe from a car accident by traveling on a bus. Nothing can ease the pain or undo the tragedy caused by such a horrific accident. However, a successfully navigated claim in a New Jersey civil court against the party or parties deemed responsible may provide compensation for medical costs, final costs and other verifiable losses.
