2 Killed 1 Injured in New Jersey Truck Accident
A crash in New Jersey is believed responsible for the deaths of two people and injuring another. This truck accident occurred on Route 18 the morning of Sept. 16. Both sides of the highway were shut down for some time while rescue teams, clean up crews and investigators worked the scene.
According to a recent report, the accident occurred around Exit 22 on Route 18 in Colts Neck. Few details have been released regarding this incident, but it is believed that a commercial truck overturned, causing the accident. At least one person was transported to an area hospital with unspecified injuries. Two people died as a result of the crash, though it is not known if they died on scene or if they, too, were taken to a medical facility for treatment.
As this time, the name of the truck driver or his or her employer has not been released. It is unknown as to whether this individual is one of the injured or deceased. Police have not indicated if any charges are pending in this matter.
The surviving victim of this truck accident and the family members of the deceased may be entitled to pursue civil claims against the driver (if alive, otherwise against the driver’s estate) and the trucker’s employer in an effort to seek compensation for their losses. Personal injury and wrongful death claims that are successfully managed may be awarded monetary judgments in a New Jersey civil court. In order to accomplish this, negligence on part of the truck driver or his or her employer will have to be established to the satisfaction of the court. Once accomplished, fair and full compensation may be achieved.
