1 Injured After 18 Wheeler Hit Minivan in New Jersey

One individual was transported to a medical facility after his car was hit by a truck. For reasons unknown, near the end of November, an 18 wheeler hit the back end of a van while traveling on the New Jersey Turnpike. A fire broke out shortly after the wreck. Thankfully both drivers were able to free themselves from their vehicles.

According to a report, this crash occurred at about 3 a.m. on Nov. 28 in South Brunswick. The driver of the van, a 48-year-old male, was driving southbound on the turnpike in the right hand lane when he was rear-ended. He was taken to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries. His current condition is unknown.

The 32-year-old FedEx driver was unharmed in the incident. At this time, no charges have been filed against either of the drivers. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.

When an accident involves an 18 wheeler, the outcome can be pretty severe. Thankfully, in this case, both drivers survived the incident; however, the injured individual may still have a long and difficult recovery ahead. If the truck driver is found to have been negligent in his actions leading to the crash, the victim may be able to successfully pursue compensation for his losses. A personal injury claim may be filed in a New Jersey civil court against the driver deemed responsible and his employer. If negligence can be established to the satisfaction of the court, financial relief for any economic and non-economic damages may be granted.
